Twisted pair wire- an easy method of making a lengths of twisted pair wireIt is relatively easy to make a very neat job of making a twisted pair set of wires: First cut two wires of the same length, and preferably different colours. This enables the wires to be identified later. One end of each wire should be clamped firmly in a vice. The other end of each wire is placed into the bit of a hand drill. Once secured, the hand drill is turned. This should be done so that slightly more twist is applied to the wires than is required. The extra twists are put in because the wire relaxes after the wires are removed from the drill and vice, and they untwist slightly.
Making twisted pair wire
This method of making a twisted wire pair is simple, quick and it gives a very neat and presentable result. Using twisted pair wires can help reduce the level of interference picked up on wires, although when high levels of isolation are required, coaxial cable is more reliable. |
